Key Responsibilities ·Provide commercial input including financial forecasts and Contractual performance to the relevant management teams ·Highlight potential risks and opportunities to the Commercial Manager ·Contractor procurement (commercial assessment of returns), ensuring best value for money and lowest risk is achieved ·Final account compilation, submissions and Contractor reviews ·Review of variations and processing in line with Contract requirements ·Management of disputes in line with level of responsibility ·Review of Contractor performance management reports for feeding into the Executive review process ·Contribute to the routine and monthly performance meetings between Contractors and the business units ·Assist Commercial Manager with review, interrogation and collation of information relating to disputes with Customers and Contractors ·Review and delivery of Commercial briefings and review of Commercial newsletters·Management of a team of Quantity Surveyors within a number of regions.·Frequent travel between NPg offices, depots and construction sites.Key Competencies •Contractual knowledge and ability to interpret key contract terms•Ability to lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors•Excellent communication, report writing, presentation and IT skills•Possess an appropriate qualification and have sound commercial and business knowledge•Understanding of the utility industry•Punctual, organised and efficient, with good problem-solving capabilities.Qualifications and AttributesEssential Qualifications and Experience•BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent•Relevant experience in the construction industry•Extensive experience administering a range of contracts•Extensive experience with scheme finance and commercial management•Experience managing a team of Quantity Surveyors•Full, current UK driving licence.Desirable Qualifications and Experience•Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).•Experience in the utility construction industry with a complete understanding of electricity distribution infrastructures.•Experience of commercially managing large framework contracts.Applicants are considered on the basis of their suitability for the post irrespective of sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender re-assignment, race, age or disability, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
