The Client





Our client are a large construction business with expertise in the energy market, they work with their clients to deliver energy distribution, energy generation and storage and energy supply and consumption management projects throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to their team.





The Role of Senior Quantity Surveyor






  • Review of contract documentation upon receipt from client to ensure compatibility with the company’s tender and subsequent negotiations.

  • Assessment of contractual terms and conditions and negotiate amendments with the client where required by the Commercial Manager

  • Producing commercial risk register for each contract. Monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures.

  • Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant & equipment and sub-contract packages.

  • Review of quotations commercially and negotiation of price and terms with vendors

  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or Invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.

  • Measure, submit and agree variations, loss & expense and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts.

  • Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.

  • Prepare and submit monthly cost value reconciliations and cash/ spend profiles.

  • Attending contract review meetings.

  • Measure, certify and agree sub-contractors interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Preparing and issuing contractual notices to sub-contractors.

  • Assisting the Finance Department in securing payment of invoices and/or applications for payment





The Person




  • Educated to a Degree level in Quantity Surveying or Building Services Engineering discipline

  • Experience of NEC contracts

  • Demonstrable experience in a quantity surveyor role within with evidence of commercial management success

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with proven experience in resolving difficult or disputed accounts to finality

  • Flexible approach to managing workload with the ability to work to deadlines

  • Has a passion and interest in emerging technologies within the Energy Market and supporting the drive to Net Zero

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Full UK driving licence – as you will be required to travel across the UK for site visits
