Senior R&D Technologist



Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom



Salary: �45-55k DOE





Key Responsibilities:






  • Lead new product development (NPD) for a key global client, collaborating cross-functionally and with other company sites to drive product improvements and portfolio expansion.




  • Ensure�product design aligns with business objectives by delivering innovative solutions within project constraints.




  • Manage NPD initiatives for strategic projects, including cost optimisation, regulatory compliance, and process improvements.




  • Oversee HACCP/HARA sign-off and lead R&D audits.




  • Some travel within EMEA, and occasionally beyond, to support customer needs.




  • Engage with third parties, including suppliers and industry specialists, to stay updated on ingredient innovations, technologies, and regulatory changes.




  • Provide technical support to customers through meetings, presentations, and written communication to enhance client relationships.





Candidate Profile:






  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related field.




  • Hands-on development experience.




  • Prior experience in customer-facing roles, ideally with Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs); additional expertise in coatings, seasonings, or sweet syrups is beneficial.




  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.




  • Capable of independently managing projects and contributing to business growth.




  • Proficiency in project and team management, including prioritisation and flexibility.




  • Comfortable representing the company in customer meetings, product trials, and project updates.




  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and resolve conflicts in a dynamic environment.




  • Understanding of the financial impact of product development decisions.




  • Knowledge of the development process, from concept to plant trials, with the ability to apply technical expertise effectively.




  • Commitment to maintaining company standards in administration, health & safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMP).




  • Full, clean UK driving licence required.
