Our client, a large & recently merged housing association based in North West London are recruiting for a new opportunity as a Senior Service Charge Officer to work on a full time temporary basis initially until the end of January 2025 paying £29.86 ph PAYE / 39.22 ph Umbrella rate based on FTE of £54,344 per annum.
Role Purpose

\n- To ensure the accurate calculation of the annual estimated service charges for leaseholders and tenants and the timely production of demand notices in accordance with statutory requirements.
\n- To ensure the annual reconciliation of the final statements for leaseholders and tenants (April) in accordance with statutory requirements.

\n
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
\n
\n- Recruit, manage and motivate the team, monitoring outcomes and taking appropriate action including identifying training needs.
\n- Carry out performance reviews to include personal development opportunities. Ensure all matters of discipline, poor performance, capability and sickness absence are dealt with in accordance with policy and procedures.
\n- To agree an annual service improvement plan and set appropriate objectives and performance targets for teams and individuals in agreement with the Service Charge Manager
\n- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver consistent service to customers ensuring compliance with legal requirements and maximising potential service charge income collection
\n- To support the preparation of the service charge accounts on a scheme level and assist with commentary on major variances
\n- To ensure that all transactions have been reviewed and journals have been actioned as appropriate;
\n- Support the annual service charge budget setting process across all tenures
\n- To act on the Audit recommendations and action points and to build good constructive working relationships with the auditors;
\n- To provide regular reports to a broad range of internal and external clients in relation to performance and other service standards. To provide analysis of specific local performance indicators as directed. To attend meetings to present such reports as necessary, including outside normal working hours.
\n- To be fully conversant with legislative changes, best practices and innovation. To provide written reports specifying the impact on delivery of services for this area of work and to attend meetings to present such reports as necessary;

\n- Qualified by experience or a part-qualified accountant with a clear understanding of accounting (E)

Knowledge and Skills Required

\n- Knowledge of legislative background and best practice in relation to service charges (E)
\n- Strong communication skills (E)
\n- Range of experience in the use of Financial accounting and other systems such as SUN, Vision, Northgate and use of IT software (E)
