Senior Settlements Analyst



Reporting to Back-Office Manager



Based in: Wilton

Position overview:



SEUK Back Office team perform time critical support for Trading, Commercial and wider Finance operations. Reporting to the Back-office Manager and will provide accurate and timely reporting to facilitate the validation of all Back office related settlement activities. On a regular basis, you and the team will liaise with several different external counterparties across the Power and Gas, including National Grid, Elexon as well as regulatory bodies.



The Back-Office team sit within the finance function with the Back-Office Manager reporting into the CFO.



Key Roles And Responsibilities:




  • Lead and perform daily, weekly and monthly Back Office settlement tasks by working closely with both internal commercial/trading teams and external customers and suppliers.

  • Lead and perform all time critical invoicing tasks and proactively resolve outstanding netting and invoicing issues respecting the appropriate escalation processes.

  • Lead and provide essential support for the gas shipping, power supply and ancillary services portfolios.

  • Liaise with external counterparties and network operators to reconcile trades, meter data and flows.

  • Liaise with National Grid by raising queries and disputes where required.

  • Report month end accruals to assist the Finance team with the month end close reporting.

  • Assist the team in submitting and ensuring we are compliant with regulatory reporting as advised by the compliance team.

  • Competently use external trading and invoicing systems whilst continually improving team processes.

  • Ensure team processes and procedures are constantly reviewed, documented and updated.

  • Risk control and compliance duties are performed diligently to avoid financial exposure.

  • Support the training and development of other settlement analysts. Be the teams SME for any settlement disputes and internal change projects.



Qualification, Skills and Experience:




  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in an operational and settlements support team (preferably in the UK power and gas supply industry).

  • Good people management skills and experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with applied proficiency of Microsoft suite.

  • Experience of applied Excel is desired.

  • Experience of the UK power and gas wholesale markets would be beneficial.

  • A full UK driving license is required.

  • Right to work in the UK is essential.
