Senior Software Engineer

Fixed Term Contract until 10/2025 – potential for extensionThis is a brilliant opportunity to join an institute for a world class university, known for their research and reputation globally. They are looking for a Senior Research Software Engineer to join their newly formed cloud computing and AI/ML team to help provide centralised expertise on the use of public cloud computing for research applications, in particular contemporary AI/ML approaches. You will provide expertise to researchers who require access to cloud computing capabilities. This will require software engineering and public cloud infrastructure experience.Main responsibilitiesManage multiple projects within the portfolio of the Competency CentreDesign and implement high quality, reliable, and re-usable softwareCollaborate with research colleagues to identify and establish research software projects, particularly AI/ML applications that require cloud capabilitiesAssist in budget management for the group and individual projectsBuild strong working relationships with subject matter expertsRequirementsStrong use of public cloud service providers e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure, OracleStrong experience in research publications or released software projectsAbility to plan and manage a research project independently with a significant software engineering componentProgramming language experience e.g., Python, C++, Java etc.Experience moving computational applications into a robust production offering, especially AI/ML workflowsBenefitsSalary up to £65,000Hybrid working – 3 days a week in the office38 days holiday (including bank holidays)Travel discountsGenerous pension schemeChildcare servicesIf you are interested in the role, please apply now for immediate review!
