Our client is an award-winning firm of consulting engineers with a number of national offices. They take pride in their vast technical expertise and proactive approach, which ensures client retention and ongoing project wins. Their workload includes schemes ranging in size and complexity, and they focus on delivering integrated engineering in an imaginative and solution-based way.

Their Derby office is expanding and, as part of this expansion process, they are seeking a senior structural engineer.

They work on a wide variety of buildings projects, often large mixed use urban developments.

It is expected that you will be Chartered and able to lead projects and project teams to success. The position is for a dynamic senior candidate with experience of managing reasonable sized projects and leading design teams. It is essential and you must have good communication skills, be proactive and client facing.

You can expect the following responsibilities: -

• Detailed design and analysis duties on a variety of buildings from the property sector
• Leading projects and a design team
• Liaising with and providing direction to more junior members of the design team
• Communicating with contractors and architects
• Liaising with clients and answering queries
• Attending site meetings
• Gradually taking on more responsibility while you work into a position in senior management

You will ideally meet the following criteria:

• A relevant degree in civil or structural engineering
• Experience with industry standard software such as Tedds and Tekla
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of the design process
• They are essentially looking for a commercially astute problem solver.
