Job Title: Senior Town Planner

Location: Leeds

About the Role:
I am currently working with one of my clients who are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior / Principal Town Planner to join their dynamic Local Plan Promotion team. In this role, you will provide accurate and professional planning advice and services on strategic planning policy matters. You will also engage in business development activities and play an active role in expanding their portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
·Promote sites through the Local Plan system, including representations, Hearing Statements, and Advocacy Reports.
·Conduct engagement events, meetings, and public examinations.
·Research and design planning policies to guide development.
·Perform statistical analysis and research, including socio-economic data to support site promotion.
·Conduct planning appraisals to establish the development potential of sites.
·Produce high-quality reports with clear recommendations.
·Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the planning process.
·Attend site visits and client meetings.

About You:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
·Chartered membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
·Proven planning experience within a consultancy or local authority environment.
·In-depth knowledge of the planning process, particularly Local Plans and Planning Policy.
·Experience working with landowners, developers, and other technical disciplines to identify and promote sites.
·Strong analytical, numeracy, and report writing skills, including experience with Local Plan representations and Hearing Statements.
·Proficiency in producing robust evidence to demonstrate site availability, suitability, achievability, and viability.
·Confidence and ability to lead project teams and engage with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.

·Proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to use initiative and work autonomously as well as part of a team.
·Ability to manage workload, budgets, and coordinate projects alongside colleagues and sub-consultants.
·Capability to mentor and guide junior team members.
·Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
·Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
