We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Web Accessibility Specialist to join our Accessibility Standards and Strategy Team.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need to show us in your application?
Expertise in Web accessibility which includes HTML, CSS, JS, ARIA.
Expert knowledge of the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Expertise in using a range of assistive software (screen readers, screen magnifiers & voice recognition software) and automated tools for testing, training and demonstrating.
Strong leadership experience, creating and engaging others in a shared vision, and valuing difference, diversity and inclusion to ensure fairness and opportunity for all.
Expertise in making effective decisions and giving advice, based on evidence, a consideration of alternative options, and understanding of risk.
You and your role
We are looking for a Senior Web Accessibility Specialist to join our established team and help us to continue our mission and ensure the highest levels of digital accessibility for both our customers and colleagues in DWP.
You will lead on web accessibility, including auditing and reporting on compliance, delivering training and providing consultancy for the most complex queries, involving ARIA and JavaScript.
You will work across DWP Digital, with colleagues at a range of role levels to embed accessibility into all products, services and communications.
As an experienced accessibility professional, you can expect to train, coach and mentor our digital teams on best practice and approach.
It's a relatively new and rapidly evolving field of expertise within DWP Digital. We are committed to developing our skills and expertise, and we'll make sure you have all the skills and space to contribute and excel.

Location: You'll join us in your choice of one our brilliant digital hubs Blackpool, Leeds, Newcastle or Sheffield.
Hybrid Working: We have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model with a mix of home working and sometime in the office.
Pay: In return for your skills, we offer a competitive salary of up to £ 63,517 p.a.
Pension: You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97% (Worth up to £18,400/year).
Holidays: You'll get a generous leave package starting at 26 days, rising to 31 days over time, plus all the usual bank holidays, and the option to take extra days off on flexi leave.
