Service Desk Apprentice - IT

Salary: Starting £230 per week with clear progression through apprenticeship to £330 per week at qualification

Specific Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm - 35 hours per week

Location: Head Office - Bromsgrove

Contract Type: Fixed Term 18 months

Course Information: Business Administration Level 3 - You will be allocated the time required during the working week to attend learning that supports your apprenticeship course.

Due to the growth of our services across the Polaris group, we are delighted to be recruiting for an enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join our vibrant team at our Head Office based in Bromsgrove.

Key responsibilities

  • To maintain and administer 1st line and 2nd line Telephone Support service desk services
  • Management of IT assets (laptops, desktops, mobile phones, printers etc.) reporting directly to the IT Service Desk Manager completing set out long term/short term projects, ongoing daily tasks, quality control checks, implementing hardware handling processes.
  • Working closely and in conjunction with Service Desk Team members.
    • Monitoring and managing the call queue, tickets and email queue.
    • Monitoring and actioning or delegating any urgent IT Assets requests.
    • Monitoring equipment requests deadlines.
    • Ensuring new starter, leavers and processed correctly and on time
    • Identify priority cases and jobs and action promptly
    • Ensuring own desk area and IT areas are kept clean at all times.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and fix any incidents assigned to you, or escalate them to the relevant teams where required.
  • Ensure security and strict confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively to all customers, internal and external to the Group.
  • Comply with Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedure in all employment practices.

The ideal candidate must have the following skills and experience:

  • Basic administration skills
  • GCSE/equivalent in Maths and English - This can be completed alongside your qualification if not already obtained.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work independently
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • An understanding of the use of IT and electronic communications including Microsoft Office (eg Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Good organisational skills
  • Be open to direction, using initiative to seek advice where necessary
