Location: Livingston Salary: Circa 40k dependent upon experience Contract Type: Permanent, full time- Monday to Friday with on-call requirements
About the client: This service provides Care at Home and Housing Support service to people living in the Edinburgh, West Lothian and Lanarkshire areas. The service is committed to working in partnership with service users, their families, commissioners, and all key stakeholders. They aim to provide inclusive, specialist, person centred services that are impact and outcome focused. The service provides care and support to a wide range of user group including the elderly, adults with learning and physical disabilities and complex care needs.
The Position:
We are looking for an experienced Service Manager who has a minimum of two years in such a position to join this expanding team.
This will be a challenging, yet rewarding role that will require a passion to drive things ensuring high-quality care for individuals, coordinating staff, and adhering to relevant regulations and standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To initiate and implement a service development plan, in response to the needs of service users and the internal and external quality audit processes.
To coordinate and ensure the implementation, monitoring and review of support plans, to provide flexible services in line with identified need through the person-centred plan.
To monitor, record and review outcomes relating to the person-centred plan.
To lead the assessment of need, development of support plans and intervention strategies.
To produce reports and assessments as required.
To ensure that communication systems within the service are used effectively and that appropriate communication is maintained with external senior management.
To continually seek to develop individual and team understanding of our diverse service users , the elderly ( dementia), people with physical and learning disabilities and ensure knowledgeable and positively influences autism specific practice in the service.
To oversee the administration of medication and ensuring this, throughout the team, is in accordance with medical guidelines and organisational policy.
To coordinate the review process, ensuring that all information is disseminated throughout the team, changing support plans as required.
To ensure policy and procedure in relation to Adult Protection is adhered to.
To oversee in conjunction with the finance department, the administration, monitoring and operation of Service Users finance and petty cash systems.
To ensure that the service operates within agreed budget parameters.
To ensure the staff team is managed in a way that will promote harmony and good teamwork.
To ensure all staff meet the required standards of performance in relation to the services philosophy, policies, and appropriate external standards.
To support the Managing Director to lead the team in the recruitment, training, and retention of staff.
To conduct individual supervision and appraisals on a regular basis and in accordance with the organisations standards.
To ensure any grievance, complaint or disciplinary issue is actioned according to policy.
To ensure that the development needs of staff are identified and monitored and that strategies are in place to address these needs.
To maintain consistency of service delivery through the appropriate deployment of the staff resources.
To be responsible for the liaising with external agencies as necessary.
To be on-call for the service on a rota basis as required.
Any other duties assigned by your Line Manager.
Preferred skills:
Proficient in care management systems, rota coordination, and working with vulnerable adults to develop person-cantered plans.
Up-to-date knowledge of social care sector legislation, including Care Inspectorate regulations.
Experienced in project management within a social care setting, particularly with the elderly and adults with complex needs.
Skilled in multi-disciplinary collaboration and knowledgeable in adult protection and safeguarding.
Effective management of operational budgets.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated decision-making ability, especially in sensitive areas.
Efficient resource management with initiative and leadership skills, fostering trust and cooperation.
Excellent teamworking skills, promoting effective collaboration.
Organisational proficiency in addressing diverse challenges and delegation.
Adaptability to handle pressure and embrace ongoing changes in policies, practices, and reorganization.
Willingness to challenge existing practices and find alternatives.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Social work or Health care qualification or equivalent as noted within the SSSC guidelines for the qualification for supervisor/ managers.
Degree or post graduate qualification in management and/or leadership or working towards the qualification desirable.
