Sexual Health Community Engagement Coordinator; Black, Asian and Global Majority Communities (2 roles)Salary: £28,000Responsible to: SASH Partnership and Engagement ManagerResponsible for: Sexual Health Promotion and HIV / STI prevention services to people within Central West London; with an emphasis on working with Black, Asian and Global Majority communitiesJob Location: Turning Point Office, 31 Wardour Street, London W1D 6PN; and across multiple sites within the three boroughs and other London locations. Some hybrid working is availableHours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time)
Normal working hours 9am-5:30pm with some evening and weekend working
25 days annual leave entitlement per year (pro-rated to length of contract) Terms: Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2027
The post will be offered with a 3-month probationary period Background:In partnership with Turning Point, METRO, and London Friend, Naz is delivering a new model of sexual health support throughout three London boroughs (Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster). Naz has a particular expertise working with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in London, and as part of this role you will be targeting Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in the three boroughs. Job purpose: To develop and deliver a culturally competent sexual health promotion and STI/HIV prevention service to people from Black, Asian and Global Majority communities within the London boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.
There are two full-time roles available; one with an emphasis on work with Black Communities; and one with a remit working with Black, Asian and other Global Majority Communities. Due to these focuses, the first role is only open to people who positively identify as having Black ethnicity, or dual/multiple heritage including this. The second role is only open to people who positively identify as having Black, Asian, or other Global Majority ethnicity, or dual/multiple heritage including this (Both exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1). Health promotion activities will include Rapid HIV Testing, providing brief information, advice and support to people about sexual health and wellbeing, identifying risky behaviours and referring people appropriately into sexual health services. This will take place in a variety of community settings accessible to target populations including community groups, churches and shopping centres.

Main responsibilities of post:Outreach and health promotion1) To be responsible for developing and coordinating the delivery of health promotion information/resources including condom distribution to people from Black, Asian and Global Majority communities across the three boroughs 2) Improve access to primary care, GUM and other health services by developing referral pathways to healthcare providers 3) Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support the project; assign roles and tasks
4) To develop and increase confidence, awareness and knowledge levels of people from Black, Asian and Global Majority communities to enable them to take control of their own lives with regards to accessing sexual health services. Community5) To liaise closely and work in partnership with other agencies in the community, voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors to help raise awareness of HIV and sexual health in the target communities 6) To run training workshops to faith groups and a variety of community groups and service providers around sexual health 7) To represent Naz at public events relative to the needs and concerns of Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in the three boroughs. Internal8) To prepare work plans and quarterly monitoring reports on project progress on reaching agreed targets and outcomes. 9) To manage and complete all record keeping/attendance figures, ensuring data and information relating to service users is accurate and shared in the appropriate way with key stakeholders; ensuring the maintenance of accurate records for purposes of evaluating and monitoring the project
10) Keep up to date on issues related to HIV and sexual health promotion prevention for our communities
11) To attend team meetings regularly and other meetings as appropriate 12) Document all client work in line with Naz good practice, particularly with regard to confidentiality and data protection issues 13) To carry out the duties of the post with due regard to Naz policies such as Equal Opportunities, child protection and adult safeguarding, data protection and health and safety
14) The ability to work flexible hours outside of normal office hours with reasonable notice 15) To carry out other duties as may be reasonably required
Person SpecificationThe selection panel will assess candidates against these criteria; please address each point in the person spec in your covering letter.
1) 2 years’ experience of working with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in either the statutory or non-statutory sector paid or voluntary capacity

2) Work experience or qualifications in fields including gender, sex, sexuality, reproductive health
-- Desirable 3) Community work, youth work, social work or other appropriate qualification-- Desirable 4) Positively identify as having Black, Asian or other Global Majority Ethnicity, or dual/multiple heritage including this (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1)
-- Essential 5) Willing to travel to sites within London as required-- Essential 6) Able to work some evenings and occasional weekends-- Essential 7) A working knowledge of different statutory and voluntary agencies that have an interest in sexual health promotion and HIV Prevention-- Essential 8) Knowledge and understanding of the specific HIV and sexual and reproductive health needs of Black, Asian and other Global Majority communities in London
