The team of over 80 Engineers and Environmental Consultants deliver projects on behalf of Clients from four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston, and Biggar. GCR also works closely with its two sister companies Green Cat Hydrogen based in the UK and Green Cat Renewables Canada based in Calgary and Halifax.Through the Engineering Department the company provides Client’s Engineer and Project Management services to clients developing renewable energy projects. This includes: civil and electrical design; procurement; project finance technical assistance; contract preparation, negotiation and management; site supervision; civil and electrical commissioning inspections; as well as complete project management.Green Cat Renewables requires a Site Engineer to join the Engineering Team based in Edinburgh.This role will be mainly based onsite so will require travelling to various locations throughout the UK and will require extended periods away from home.The Role The Role will primarily involve the following:Reviewing engineering drawings and providing comments as per contractual requirements, local regulations, and applicable standards.Reviewing quality plans and Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) of contractors and commenting on them.Monitoring contractors to check they are executing requirements of quality plans & ITPs and taking part in site/equipment tests/inspections when required.Preparing quality observation reports for each project and sharing these with the Client and contractors as required.Reviewing Method Statements and Risk Assessments.Carrying out regular site walks during working hours to check if operatives are working safely and in accordance with the appropriate Method Statement and Risk Assessments.Keeping a site diary.Reviewing and commenting on contractor programmes.Monitoring site progress against Contract programmes and completing weekly and monthly reports.Completing measures of work completed by Contractors and assessing payment applications.Issuing NCRs whenever required and following them until closure.Organising logistics and handover procedure of Client supplied materials and getting handover documents and reports from contractor.Attending weekly contractor meetings, issuing notes and actions, and following up.Assisting contractors to solve site related problems, face to face in a collaborative way.Guiding contractors and/or the Client whenever necessary technical or H&S issues arise.Monitoring commissioning & energisation stages of construction closely.Preparing punch lists at the end of projects (including adding observations during projects) and following them until closure.Joining handover inspections with contractors.Checking contractors are conducting toolbox talks as required and attending toolbox talks of contractors.Undertake other duties as required by the Company to facilitate construction of the works.The Candidate The Candidate would require the following:Formal Qualification in Civil Engineering/Engineering/Quantity Surveying.Expected Job Role Level of Competency; HND, B.Eng or M.Eng.Site Experience 5 - 10 Years.Willingness to undertake travel across the UK and work away from home when appropriate.Must be eligible to work in the UK.Valid UK driving licence.BenefitsCompetitive salary in line with experience.25 Days annual leave and 8 flexible bank holidays.Private Health Care Plan.Contributory Pension Scheme.Cycle to Work scheme.Professional development opportunities and support.Professional fees paid for by the company.Company social events and team building days.On-site parking with EV charging points available to staff.The role would be a permanent and full-time position.To apply please send a full CV and covering letter to #####.
