Senior Practitioner - Discharge of Care Orders

Location: Remote/Home-Based (with travel to Shropshire)
Rate: £33.30 per hour
Contract: Initial 3-4 months (potential for extension)
Working Model: Predominantly remote, with one office day per week and family visits as needed
Flexible Options: Part-time (3 days a week) or condensed hours considered following a successful interview

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to support the discharge of care orders for children currently placed at home with their parents. This critical role requires a skilled and proactive professional with a background in safeguarding and/or children in care teams.

The role focuses on prioritising and progressing essential paperwork (including PWP assessments, chronologies, and court statements) efficiently and to a high standard. While this is predominantly not a case-holding position, you will work alongside allocated social workers and partner agencies to achieve timely and effective outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the discharge of care orders by preparing and managing key documentation, including PWP assessments, chronologies, and court statements.
  • Collaborate with social workers and multi-agency partners to progress cases effectively.
  • Work independently, maintaining focus on tasks and prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
  • Undertake family visits as required and attend the office at least one day per week.

Requirements

  • Essential: Previous experience in safeguarding and/or children in care teams.
  • Strong organisational and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, detailed reports and assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Private transport and the ability to travel within driving distance of Shropshire.
  • Flexibility to attend family visits and work remotely/home-based.
