Social Worker - Duty & Assessment Team
Location: Guildhall, Shrewsbury (SY3 8HQ)
Rate: Up to £33.30 per hour
Working Model:
- Duty Weeks: Office-based.
- Non-Duty Weeks: Flexible, manage your own diary with opportunities for remote working.
About the Role
Join a busy and dynamic duty team covering the whole of Shropshire. As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and effective support to children and families, ensuring their safety and well-being.
In this role, you will conduct assessments, engage with children to gather their wishes and feelings, and complete direct work. You will also attend key meetings, such as Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPCC), Core Groups, and Child in Need (CIN) meetings, while contributing to vital court work during duty weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete social work assessments, including S47, S7, and S37 reports.
- Participate in the duty rota every other week, providing office-based support.
- Conduct direct work with children to ensure their voices are heard and considered in planning.
- Attend and contribute to ICPCCs, Core Groups, and CIN meetings.
- Handle initial court work, where required, during duty weeks.
- Manage your own diary during non-duty weeks to balance office and remote working.
Requirements
- Qualified and registered Social Worker with relevant experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced duty team environment.
- Strong assessment and report-writing skills.
- Commitment to capturing the wishes and feelings of children and incorporating them into your work.
- Willingness to commute to and work from Guildhall, Shrewsbury during duty weeks.
