We have an exciting opportunity for a FTC Solutions Engineer to join us working remotely with some travel to our sites. We're always on the lookout for top talent to join our growing business. Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Principal Solution Manager, the Solution Engineer will examine data & processes to help solve operational problems, deliver new products & help quantify their cost and impact on the network. The Solution Engineer will own the Ops Discovery process for smaller projects whilst supporting the Senior solution manager on larger projects. Over time the Solution Engineer will support with creating cost models & detailed solution designs across both warehouse & transport. The Solution Engineer will also facilitate the on-boarding of new clients and working closely with other departments in Operational Planning & Development in introducing new products into the network. Part of the role is also to monitor and report on END and Send ND capacity.
You will be accountable for:
Support the Ops Discovery roadmap, appropriately allocate your time, resource and prioritise decisions / projects to meet deadlines in line with the overall business strategy.
Proactively liaise with senior management within Change, Innovations, IT, Commercial, Marketing and Product teams to capture all potential developments, ensuring they are added to the Ops Discovery roadmap where an operational solution is required.
Maintain strong relationships with Operational teams and Ops Dev/Support functions to continually develop operational knowledge and capture any improvement ideas that need to go through Ops Discovery.
Support with creating and documenting innovative operational solutions to deliver new ideas, products and initiatives. Initially leading smaller projects/products (Developing into network wide solutions), collaborating with the relevant operational experts including Systems Specialists, Process Managers and Ops Dev Managers, to ensure solutions are feasible and the impacts fully understood.
Understand, utilise and continually improve a core Operational Cost Model to more efficiently quantify solution costs, using Ops Data Science resource where appropriate.
Proactively support the Ops Data Science function, providing key operational knowledge and expertise to ensure more complex data science models and simulations accurately reflect the operation.
Support Discovery outputs, ensuring findings are clearly articulated to stakeholders for sign off and cataloguing them for future reference where immediate delivery is not agreed.
Provide clear handover of solutions to project teams, providing on-going consultative expertise to ensure requirements are accurately captured for delivery.
Managing END allocations by chairing weekly calls, highlighting any capacity issues, and escalating any potential issues to Director of Operations Planning & Development
Designing and managing the END model to take into account any strategic variations in capacity – Additional hub processing sites, additional capacity through hub efficiency or capacity released through Direct to Depot clients
Assessing the impacts on depots when extending END windows, or direct injection to depots, using approved processing models so that any potential impacts to depots and couriers can be assesses. Any potential issues to be escalated to General manager Central Planning
To be successful you will require:
Degree level education preferably within a Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Project Management, Planning or Business Analytics discipline
Experience in Solution Design
Experience with Cost Models
Experience in Process Mapping
Experience in building business cases and value stream mapping
Experience working with Change Functions
Advanced skills in MS Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
Problem solving and analytical thinking
Ability to easily highlight and identify trends within data
Ability to use data to make good business recommendations
Must be a strong communicator
Ideally have an operational background & understand cost, productivity & service measures.
Strong stakeholder management to be able to influence at all levels, including the directorate
Strong leadership skills, able to motivate and engage project resource and operators
Able to constructively challenge a diverse range of stakeholders
