Sous Chef Job Brief
We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality meals and ensuring a smooth, efficient kitchen operation. The Sous Chef will contribute to menu development, staff supervision, and the daily management of kitchen activities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about culinary excellence, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and adept at maintaining a high standard of food preparation.
The goal is to enhance customer satisfaction and assist in the overall success of the kitchen to ensure that we maintain and expand our clientele.
Sous Chef Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen.
Supervise kitchen staff and ensure they work efficiently and professionally.
Contribute to menu development by creating exciting new dishes and refining existing ones.
Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard and meets health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Monitor food stocks, place orders, and ensure proper storage to minimize waste.
Assist in managing kitchen costs and maintaining food budgets.
Oversee the training and development of junior kitchen staff.
Ensure kitchen workstations are clean, organized, and efficient.
Sous Chef Requirements and Skills:
Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a fine dining or high-end restaurant environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Creative and passionate about developing new dishes.
Excellent attention to detail, especially regarding presentation and taste.
In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, kitchen equipment, and culinary techniques.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Relevant culinary certification or equivalent professional experience.
