Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Start Date: Immediate start possible

GSL Education are assisting a local mainstream primary school situated in Bournemouth with their recruitment of a special educational needs teaching assistant. The role consists of supporting pupils with challenging and complex needs on a 1:1 basis or small group basis. This includes managing behaviour, promoting engagement and implementing effective strategies to communicate with the pupils. Due to the needs of the pupils, experience working with pupils with SEN is crucial, including working with children who have ASD. The ideal candidate will be confident, resilient and proactive.


This position is perfect for anyone who has a wealth of experience working with children with SEN, who is now seeking a new opportunity where they can apply their skills and experience and contribute to making a positive impact in the school community.


Responsibilities:


  • Implement personalised care and education plans and follow EHCPs effectively so that the needs of the pupils are met.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages independence and personal growth, so that the pupil has the best possible support in reaching their full potential.
  • Utilise effective communication strategies (both verbal and non-verbal) to build rapport and trust with the student.
  • Support the class teacher to deliver bespoke curriculum and ensure that all pupils are appropriately catered for with effective provision.  

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Previous experience as a SEN TA in school or similar role with relevant experience.
  • Understanding of SEN and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of students.
  • A compassionate, patient and nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • A confident and resilient personality!
