Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Brain Injury/Neuro
Location: Central London
Hours: Permanent/Full-time position | Mon - Fri covering 37.5hrs p/week
Salary: Up to £53,000 p/annum depending on experience

Key Requirements:

\n- \nHCPC Registered:
\n
\n- Candidate must hold a valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) without any restrictions on their professional practice.
\n
\n
- \nNeuro Rehabilitation Experience:
\n\n- Previous experience working in a Neuro rehab setting is essential.
\n
\n- \nDysphagia Expertise:
\n\n- Competency in managing Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) is crucial.
\n
\n- \nPatient Support:
\n\n- Ability to support and motivate patients throughout their treatment and recovery process.
\n
\n- \nBand Level:
\n\n- Ideally working at a Band 6 level, though this is negotiable for a strong candidate.
\n
\n- \nExperience with Communication Disorders:
\n\n- Proficiency in managing conditions such as:
\n\n- \nAphasia (language disorder)
\n- Cognitive communication disorders
\n- \nDysarthria (speech difficulties due to muscle weakness)
\n- \nApraxia (difficulty in motor planning for speech)
\n- \nDysphagia (swallowing difficulties)

\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities:
\n\n- \nSwallow Disorder Assessment and Management:
\n
\n- Assessment, case management, and effective communication regarding swallowing disorders.
\n
\n- \nMaintaining Standards:
\n\n- Upholding high standards across the department to ensure patient care is delivered at a top level.
\n
\n- \nRehab Ward Support:
\n\n- Assisting with the day-to-day management and operations of the rehab SLT ward.
\n
\n- \nPatient Safety:
\n\n- Ensuring the safety of patients at all times during their care and therapy.
\n
\n- \nTraining Participation:
\n\n- Actively engaging in internal training such as:
\n\n- Induction and mandatory training
\n- \nMultidisciplinary Team (MDT) in-service training.
\n
\n
\n- \nSkill Development and Mentoring:
\n\n- Continually developing your own clinical skills.
\n- Providing supervision and mentoring to SLT assistants and students.
\n
\n\n\nThis position would be suited for a motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is comfortable working in a clinical, neuro-rehab-focused environment and is keen to develop their skills further while also mentoring others.
