We have an opportunity for a Specialist Surgery Pharmacist to develop a career in Surgery, build skills as a directorate pharmacist and work with aspirational pharmacy and surgical teams. You will work in a clinical role across various surgical specialties across 3 hospitals, delivering education and training, gain experience in audit, quality improvement of services, improving medicines safety and access to medicines. You will have the opportunity to carry out directorate work including formulary activities, electronic prescribing, guidelines and procedures review and medicines expenditure surveillance within Surgery. Surgical specialties include major trauma, plastic, orthopaedic, surgical rehabilitation, colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, vascular, endocrine surgery, ear, nose and throat, urology, breast and ophthalmology. You will be self-motivated and organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need to be able to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of professionals. You will need good IT skills and be able to work with various IT programs & databases. Applicants should be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Upon joining Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust you should have completed a minimum of 18 months of a postgraduate clinical pharmacy diploma and working towards full diploma or equivalent experiential learning. Interviews are scheduled to be held on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th July 2024 at St Mary's Hospital, Praed Street, London, W2 1NY. Main duties of the job You will rotate between St Mary's, Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospital sites in order to provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to surgical wards. Ensuring the safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of medicines whilst undertaking quality improvement projects to drive efficiency in surgical admissions, discharge and medicines safety. You will have the opportunity to undertake medicines expenditure surveillance and ensure safe and appropriate use of medicines through audit and service evaluation. You will also be involved in supporting & helping develop trainee pharmacists, band 6 pharmacists & medicines management pharmacy technicians as appropriate.
