The Eye Department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital is part of the main hospital. The out-patient department consists of eight fully equipped examination rooms with computer terminals. It has facilities for anterior segment photography, A and B scan ultrasound, IOL Master, Humphreys Visual fields analyser, pachymeter, tonopen, OCT, Digital FFA, Argon & Yag laser and SLT. OCT and FFA images are networked and are retrievable from the computer terminals in the examination rooms. The clinic also has a dedicated scrub room and a minor theatre for the administration of IVT. There is a theatre day case operating suite with recovery room. There is a seminar room with projection facilities for teaching.
Main duties of the job
The duties of this post will be outpatient clinics in particular participating in the AMD, Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusion service and administration / recommendation anti VEGF and other intra-vitreal treatments. Casualty clinics will also be a requirement.
This is a 10 session post. The weekly programme will be based on the recommendations of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. The successful candidate will participate in a 1:4 first on-call at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Time off in lieu will be given for any bank holiday on-call commitments.
