Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children with special educational needs, providing them with the support they need to thrive.

Job Description:

As a Speech and Language Therapist in our SEN school, you will:

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) in children.
  • Develop and implement tailored intervention plans to address identified needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the holistic development of each child.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils, adjusting interventions as necessary.
  • Provide training and support to school staff to enhance their understanding and skills in supporting children with SLCN.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care for pupils.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have:

  • HCPC Registration: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience with SEN: A minimum of 6 months' experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • DBS: A valid DBS check registered on the Update Service.
  • Safeguarding: A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of pupil safety.

Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the needs of pupils.
  • Experience in delivering training to staff and parents.
