Harvey Nash is extremely proud to be exclusively partnered with a Private Equity Investment Company, based in Manchester who are embarking on a large-scale Transformation programme.

As part of the growth within the Company, we are looking to recruit an experienced SQL DBA on a permanent basis to join the Architecture and Engineering teams, and take responsibility for the development, management and optimisation of the SQL databases. In doing so, the successful SQL DBA will ensure performance, security and reliability.

To be successful in this role, the SQL DBA will be required to have a deep and comprehensive understanding of SQL, database architecture and data analysis techniques; working closelt with cross-functional teams to support a data-driven decision-making environment and optimise the data management processes.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Play a critical role in the transition from on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure cloud
• Design, develop, and manage SQL databases, ensuring they perform optimally and are highly reliable
• Craft complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to meet business needs
• Perform data analysis to support business functions and strategic decisions
• Monitor and enhance database performance, addressing and resolving any performance issues
• Implement and uphold database security protocols to safeguard sensitive information
• Carry out routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, indexing, and performance tuning
• Work closely with developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to design and deploy database solutions
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across different systems and platforms
• Create and update detailed documentation for database systems, procedures, and workflows
• Keep abreast of the latest advancements in SQL database technologies and best practices

Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience as an SQL Database Analyst or in a similar role
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with SQL Server, MySQL, or other relational database management systems
• Deep understanding of database design principles, data modelling, and normalisation
• Proven experience in database performance tuning and optimisation techniques
• Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results
• Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is advantageous
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or similar is beneficial
