Standby Minibus Driver – Day Services | Leyton, London | Casual work | Monday – Saturday 7am -10am | £14 per hour

Our client is a busy transport charity providing passenger transport support to a wide variety of organisations across East London as well as delivering transport services on behalf of public bodies.

You will be a flexible standby driver, assisting the organisation at short notice to cover various duties across their services including Dial a Ride, Day Centre Services and community use. The organisation is a busy service and needs to have flexible cover to cover short-notice absences when they occur.

You will be expected to be in the office 7am -10am Monday to Saturday to cover short-term notice driving duties and assist in the early morning preparation of vehicles scheduled for the day. 

On occasion that you are required to cover a shift you will be paid for the entire shift, if not required, you will be able to leave at 10am.

This position is perfect for a flexible individual who is keen to work in a Community Transport environment, increase skills in fleet management and provide support to the work of the Charity.

Are you the right person for the job?

The following criteria are essential for this role

• Must hold D1 PSV licence
• Must be office based 7am -10am and able to continue with covering a service should it be required
• Must be able to lift 25kg

What will your role look like?

• To provide occasional cover on a scheduled route collecting passengers from their home addresses and taking them to the day centre
• Provide occasional driving duties for Dial a Ride Service as required
• Undertake a variety of driving duties where required to deliver the community programme
• Undertake early morning preparation of vehicles to accommodate last-minute changes including seating changes (training provided), vehicle checks including cleanliness of the vehicle, sweeping and mopping of the vehicle if required, and bodywork inspection
