MPI are currently recruiting for a Storekeeper/Logistic Operative for our client based in Stafford.
This role is deemed in-scope of IR35
The rate of pay is £12.11 PAYE with possible overtime available to be agreed as required.
JOB PURPOSE
To carry out Logistics and warehousing within the DECA Stafford area across all MOD Stafford sites. To ensure all work areas are supplied with relevant equipment, goods and support within a logistical framework. Logistical operatives ensure work areas are able to complete tasks on time and with correct, accurate and safe delivery and movement of equipment, ensuring tasks by the work force are completed on time and meeting all relevant Key Point Indicator’s.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Receipting goods including unloading of vehicles, using correct Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), Documentation and Procedures.
Despatch of goods including packing and loading of vehicles using correct Manual Handling Equipment (MHE), Documentation and Procedures.
Manual and Electronic accounting with MOD computer systems. (MJDI – Tri-service MOD accounting system, JAMES – Army asset tracking system, VITAL – MOD parcel tracking system, BAAN – DECA local computer system)
Storing and Locating of goods (including hazardous goods and chemicals) within the relevant work areas, while using relevant Documentation and Procedures, following and understanding of Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments.
Operation of a consumables Kanban, (consumable stock held on the line for speed and ease for the production areas), ensuring stock is replenished when required and minimum levels maintained.
Carry out High Priority and Routine transport requests and ensure they are actioned within a timely manner, as per priority Procedures.
Operating within a restricted area (controlling who is in the area and who has access to the stock to ensure the stock is correct), ensuring stock is replenished and spares picked within the hour and delivered to production. As agreed on internal SLA.
Ensure High Priority and Routine transport requests are fulfilled and are actioned within a timely manner, as per priority Procedures. (Within 2 – 5 days following MOD procedures).
Ensure training, both specific to job and general, is completed within a timely and constant manner, and complies with a regular training schedule.
Complete regular Movement of goods within the work areas using relevant equipment, vehicles and procedures, this involves picking and delivering assets and spares within an agreed timeframe to meet the customer demand time and ensuring the production lines have work at all times, these movements could be within the building or to other locations on site.
Ensure the safety and security of personnel and equipment are compliant within all relevant work areas, working knowledge of H&S rules and regulations – taking responsibility to choose the correct usage of packaging and despatch methods.
Accept responsibility to check all stock at agreed annual times, this is ensuring all the stock is correctly identified and stored, reporting any discrepancies.
Contributing to OTIF review, by receipting and despatching correctly and having awareness of delivery dates it will ensure that business targets are met.
Ensure that equipment marked ‘secret’ is correctly handled and take responsibility for its safe movement to the classified warehouse. Secure the classified warehouse at close of play. Take responsibility for all codes and setting of alarms.
Understand and agree to team Risk assessments.
Input the batch control details on all DECA bought spares – this ensures that DECA have full traceability of spares required to keep up our MAOS standards.
Understand and follow the security procedures for receiving suspect packages, understand the site alert status and report any suspect packages immediately
Supervise Visiting Drivers/Staff ensuring that health and safety procedures are followed. Ensuring the correct PPE is being used.
Train new staff in the systems and procedures including Agency and work experience.
Decide which tie down scheme is appropriate and organise dunnage for vehicle movement.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Forklifts- Trained To RTITB Standards.
BAAN- Local Training And Experience Required.
Vital- MOD Course Required.
Dangerous Goods, Including IATA, IMDG, ADR, Notes and Bills Using MTSR.
COSHH- Experience in Handling Safety Data Sheets.
Driving Licence- Relevant Experience Driving Commercial Vans, Pickups and forklifts
General Computing- Able To Use Basic Computer Skills Such As Word, Excel and Outlook.
MJDI- MOD Training And Experience Required
JAMES – Local training and experience required.
Airfreight paperwork & liaising with airhead.
Booking courier transport.
Risk Assessments – have an understanding and awareness to risk.

Lifting and carrying of equipment and spares – lifting up to 20kg
Use of PPE (gloves, boots, jackets, high Vis, dust masks) to ensure your own safety and that of others.

MHE (Palletisers, Forklifts, trolleys, ladders, lift tables, sac trucks)
Housekeeping, (Sweeping, Tidying, Emptying Bins/Boxes)
Travelling around and between Sites to Deliver, Collect and Move Goods on internal transport.
Standing for long periods while booking in/out of equipment.
Speaking to the public/customers can be stressful.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Warehouse dust and general debris, the warehouse has no natural light, it has large roller shutter doors so is often cold and windy, and the environment is busy and noisy.
Office Area.
Warehouse is located in the workshop which is affected By Workshop Vehicles, Smells, Chemicals And Noise
Outside working including work in variable climates and conditions.
Follow recycling policy – reuse cardboard and packaging
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Basic Secondary Education.
Basic Driving Qualifications
