Strategic Buyer

We are looking for a number of Strategic Buyers for a 12 months contract based in Derby on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.

Job description - the role

These Buyer positions will be within the Strategic Procurement team across four Categories: Raw Material and Forming, Design Make, Complex Machining and Finished Components. The role of the Buyer will support the creation of the integrated commodity / category strategy(s) and / or will support the execution the associated strategic sourcing and commercial activities.

The Buyer will be responsible for the in-contract management of your designated suppliers, providing continuity of supply to required levels. You will be responsible for Strategy, providing a clear vision and strategic framework for the designated supply chain(s). Working collaboratively, as part of a highly skilled cross functional teams to ensure that strategies meet the needs of current and future manufacturing programmes.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all sourcing activities are in line with the defined purchasing processes, which will include the raising and management of all purchase documentation within the appropriate system.

As a Strategic Buyer you will be responsible for:

Negotiating to get best value/ cost reduction.
Implementing strategic sourcing strategies and process improvements.
Costs vendor management and working with supplier development teams.
Understanding supplier KPIs, SLAs, and their terms & conditions.
Using the appropriate data to make key business decisions.What we require from the candidate:

Essential:

Experienced Strategic Buyer with strong experience in direct purchasing.
Coming from a large, complex regulated enterprise with industry experience ideally Aerospace however can consider engineering, manufacturing, automotive or associated industries.
Strategic procurement background record - sourcing process, cost reduction, contract negotiations, RFQ's etc. Ideally:

Ideally MCIPs qualified or equivalent.
Experience with SAP.
Strong in Excel; Pivot Tables & V Lookups.Next steps
