Forsyth Barnes are delighted to be representing a motorsport team seeking a Senior Strategy Engineer.
This role, based in Banbury, UK, reports to the Head of Performance Engineering and is focused on providing strategic support for FIA Formula 1 Championship races and test events. The primary responsibility is to manage the race strategy group, optimizing team performance through pre-event simulations, in-race support, and post-race analysis, either trackside or remotely. The role involves strategic planning in areas such as tire usage and fuel loads, competitor analysis, and pit stop performance, while also developing and improving strategy tools and methodologies.
The position requires managing a team of strategists, overseeing budgets, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the team. Extensive travel and long, flexible hours are expected, along with a high level of technical proficiency in programming, data analysis, and Formula 1 race strategy. The role also involves ensuring health and safety compliance in high-pressure environments with heavy mental and physical demands.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build productive relationships
Excellent planning, strategic and organizational skills
The ability to understand the big picture whiles overseeing minute details in a time stressed, high-pressure environment.
Capable of working in a team environment to a very high standard and a positive work attitude.
A sympathetic approach and a willingness to help other is essential.
Knowledge of the correct methods in department disciplines and/or practices.
Equipment and Applications:
Python, VBA and MATLAB programming.
C# programming.
Experience with databases, both in creation and management.
Other programming languages to aid in the development of live and/or interactive tools.
Experience in data analysis preferably using ATLAS.
Technical experience of Formula 1 Race Strategy.
Strong understanding of vehicle & tyre performance.
