About the Role
The Demand Team develops and regularly reviews the strategy to meet demand reduction goals from the Environment Act. The team leads technical aspects, strategy, and monitoring for demand planning over short, medium, and long-term periods, and educates internal teams on demand management.
In this role, you'll monitor and report on the Demand Strategy’s progress, conduct annual reviews, and update strategies based on these reviews. You'll collaborate with delivery teams to set realistic targets and develop a long-term engagement plan for customers and retailers, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy.
To succeed, you need a strong background in water resources management, especially in demand forecasting and strategic planning. Experience in creating and implementing demand management strategies is crucial for optimizing water use and achieving sustainability goals.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead the creation of a demand strategy across all regions, managing long-term planning and investment to achieve water sustainability goals.
Provide strategic leadership to align the company’s goals with effective demand management, guiding teams in analysing and forecasting water usage trends.
Work closely with delivery teams and management to develop investment options that achieve targeted water demand reductions.
Actively participate in industry groups to promote innovation and advanced demand management techniques, positioning the company as a leader.
Oversee the investment appraisal process for the demand strategy, building strong business cases to secure necessary funding during price reviews.
Ensure demand strategies and investments are integrated into business plans and comply with regulatory standards.
Required Experience:
Extensive experience in water resource management, including forecasting demand, planning, policy-making, and implementing strategies.
Proven leadership in guiding teams, offering technical support, and using planning and forecasting techniques for water demand, with skills in building agreements and managing relationships.
Degree in science, environment, or engineering.
Strong knowledge of water systems, including supply, distribution, and storage, to assess water demand and supply.
Deep understanding of water management, conservation, sustainability, industry standards, UK water policies, and effective stakeholder management.
