Role Overview
We're looking for someone with a background in civil or structural engineering, who's got experience in designing civil and structural assets, either on the consultancy side or with contractors.
You will be responsible for providing a wide range of structural engineering services whilst getting exposure to broad variety of sectors and projects. You will be expected to work independently following your initial on-boarding period with direction and support from our wider team. The role allows an engineering enthusiast to continue to design whilst assisting with team management responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
- Report to the Company Director whenever needed.
- Do detailed design calculations based on the latest Eurocodes.
- Manage design work for multiple projects and assets.
- Coordinate detailed design drawings and prep specs for tenders and construction.
- Help deliver high-quality solutions across different sectors for clients and project teams.
- Keep an eye on all team projects, manage resources, and make smart commercial decisions on expenses.
- Conduct structural surveys and give advice on any issues that come up.
- Analyse and report on any structural problems, suggesting fixes if necessary.
- Present your designs and ideas to key clients and help guide the project.
- Use BIM tools to coordinate your designs with others, and;
- Visit construction sites to check on progress and offer advice to contractors.
What You Bring
- Aiming for MIStructE/MICE Chartered membership.
- Great communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- A valid UK driving license.
- Experience in structural design with common materials like concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
- Solid skills in AutoCAD; knowing Revit is a bonus.
- Familiarity with modeling tools like Tekla Tedds, Structural Designer, and Masterseries would be a plus.
- Experience in doing structural surveys and writing reports.
- Experience in Eurocodes and British Standards
- Knowledge of processes and techniques in structural asset design.
- Experience with refurbishing or changing the use of buildings, as well as new builds.
- Ability to work independently but also ask for help when needed.
- Good at organising your workload to hit deadlines and budgets.
