Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review structural engineering designs, drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence. - Liaise with external professionals and clients, representing the consultancy at meetings and site inspections. - Manage project timelines and performance, ensuring high standards are maintained. - Supervise and guide Graduate Engineers and Technicians in their tasks. - Prepare structural reports on buildings and other structures.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree-qualified Engineer, aspiring to or working towards Incorporated or Chartered Membership of either the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers. - 2-4 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering. - Proven ability to manage and lead teams, with excellent communication skills. - Experience in contract negotiation and a commercial understanding of fee management. - Demonstrated ability to ensure client satisfaction throughout the design process.
Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in designing structural members in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber. - In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and codes of practice. - Familiarity with design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, S-Frame, TEDDS, SCIA, and CADS. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other administrative software. Competencies:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, accurate, and technically correct reports. - Capability to manage personal workload within agreed timeframes and budgets. - Aptitude for contributing to the workload management of engineers and technicians.
