Structured Cabling Engineer

**** Data Engineer - Chertsey - ASAP start - Permanent role - £36k - £38k (depending on experience) **** 

Our client was formed in 1989 as a partnership and became a Limited company in 2000. With over 28 years’ experience in the ICT Industry, they have worked on many projects ranging from listed buildings to newly constructed state of the art data centres. Due to a recent expansion, my client is looking for a Data Cabling Engineer to join their team, you are answerable to the senior data cabling engineers, Office Manager and the director of the company.

Responsibilities:

You will be expected to carry out the installation of data and voice communications cabling and any associated equipment both on site and in a workshop environment.  You will be expected to carry out these installations as per the instructions sent by your line manager verbally and in email format which will be sent each afternoon this will be supplied to you which will clearly detail all the necessary work to be performed. Your primary role within the company will be to carry out Installations of Copper Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a, running cables in bundles under flooring, baskets, tray work etc. Cable terminations both panel and outlet end, also assist Senior Engineers when and where required. 

Knowledge of setting fluke testing equipment correctly and knowledge of how to perform the testing of works carried out so we can supply documentation to our clients upon completion of all works.

You may be required to work OOH as and when required to support our customers. Working away from home and outside of the UK from time to time will also be required.

If you hold a full driving license, you will be expected to drive a company vehicle.  You will be responsible for that vehicle while it is in your care. You may be liable for any excess charges incurred from our insurers, due to a claim for which you are held responsible.

After your initial three-month trial period, any necessary training requirements which have been identified during this period will be carried out.  You will be trained on site and in-house by senior staff, in various methods implemented in the course of our work. You may be asked to attend workshops, seminars and training courses relevant to specific applications; these will help to enhance your knowledge and job skills.

Essential Requirements

- 2 to 3 years of industry experience

- Full UK License 

- Must hold a data comms specialist card (ECS)

- Clean Background (Security Checks will be carried out - Level 3 SC Cleared)

- Previous Data Cabling Experience, including testing and using fluke test equipment
