Student Support Worker

Hours: 24 Hours Per Week (Term Time Only - 43 Weeks Paid)

Location: AIM Central, Kinson Road, Bournemouth, BH10 5HD

Pay Rate: £13.12 - £15.03 Per Hour Depending on Experience

AIMCommunity is a Bournemouth based Charity providing creative education and mentoring support for children and young people aged 8-19. AIM Arts Academy is our provision for 16-19 year olds who are not in other education or employment. Through their engagement with a mix of creative skills, as well as maths, English and ICT, when needed, alongside individual mentoring, we look to enable young people to flourish and succeed.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To arrive at AIMCentral 15 minutes before AIM Arts Academy starts and to leave 15 minutes after the last lesson finishes for end of day review and evaluation.
  • To report to their Line Manager before each work day to speak about daily tasks.
  • To contact and catch up with the young people on their list that attend AIM Arts Academy throughout the week and report any cause for concerns that may occur.
  • To provide regular and consistent support to assigned students with SEND needs.
  • To update NINOX records on interactions with young people and send emails to relevant staff members to make them aware of any needs or events.
  • To be available to meet with young people for intervention sessions if needed.
  • To contact young people or their emergency contact number 10 minutes after their scheduled time of attending if not present for AIM Arts Academy lessons.
  • To attend weekly student support team meetings and to give feedback on their weekly tasks.
  • To make sure that any messages from visitors, service users or other professionals are passed on to the relevant staff member or young person. This can be done through a direct message on Slack, Gmail or face to face.
  • To actively be part of student support event planning for young people throughout the academic year

Requirements:


  • Clear Enhanced DBS checked
  • Youth work training and experience working and supporting vulnerable teens
  • SEN training and experience working with teens with SEN needs
  • Experience working with and supporting teens and young people with Aspergers, ASD, ADHD
  • Familiarity with current and popular elements of teenage culture: music, social media, etc
  • Comfortable with Digital Media and Various Music styles
