Are you prepared to step into a vital position within the construction sector? On behalf of our client we are looking to appoint a highly skilled and committed Sub Agent to join an established team at Dounreay Substation. Here’s why this opportunity should catch your interest:

Role Overview:
As Sub Agent, you will support the Site Agent in managing various elements of the construction project at Dounreay Substation. You’ll be integral in coordinating subcontractors, supervising work packages, and ensuring construction activities are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. The project involves a high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission system between Finstown, Orkney, and Dounreay, Caithness, with the capacity to transmit at least 220MW of power.  You will be at the forefront of ensuring that all project objectives are achieved within the set timeframes. All accommodation, travel, and subsistence will be covered by the contractor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Site Agent in planning and coordinating all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, resource management, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure work packages are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Monitor progress against project milestones and budgets, identifying any deviations or issues and taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and other project documentation in line with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental regulations, and project specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site staff, addressing technical queries and coordinating any required design changes.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports, including daily diaries, photographic records, and as-built drawings to document project activities and accomplishments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the construction industry, with strong knowledge of construction techniques and processes.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems.
  • Competence in using construction software and tools, such as project management software and CAD programmes, is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also demonstrating independence and minimal supervision.

What’s On Offer:

  • Opportunity to work on a prestigious power transmission project with a leading construction firm.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including healthcare, pension, and opportunities for career development.
  • A supportive and inclusive working environment, where your contributions are both valued and recognised.
  • Continuous training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career.
