ROLE: Supplier Quality Engineer
LOCATION: West Midlands
TERM: Fixed Term Contract
SALARY: £40,000 per annum
This role is focused on supplier development and quality improvement within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The position involves collaboration with the Quality Team to ensure supplier performance meets the organization's rigorous standards. This is a dynamic role, requiring strong technical expertise and experience in supplier quality within complex supply chains.
Key Responsibilities
Apply advanced supplier development techniques to enhance supplier performance and capability.
Interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings to support quality assurance activities.
Conduct supplier audits and evaluate supply chain performance against key metrics, reporting on product quality and process adherence.
Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate to identify opportunities for improvement and cost optimization.
Support the supplier approval process by evaluating manufacturing capabilities and assessing safety and environmental risks.
Lead Material Review Boards, manage Non-Conformance Reports, and guide suppliers through Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
Partner with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to align supplier capabilities with design requirements and process parameters.
Contribute to product introduction processes, ensuring suppliers meet required standards.
Train and support internal and external stakeholders in quality assurance tools such as PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, and First Article Inspection Reports.
Maintain knowledge of and compliance with relevant standards, including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, and related industry-specific requirements.
Apply expertise in metrology and inspection methods to ensure supplier outputs meet stringent quality standards.
Required Experience
Essential:
Significant experience in supplier development and supply chain quality management.
Background in a regulated manufacturing sector such as automotive, aerospace, or equivalent.
Desirable:
HND/HNC in engineering or manufacturing, or equivalent professional experience.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive action plans and influence stakeholders.
Effective communicator with a proactive and self-starting approach.
