Development opportunity for an experienced engineer to move into a procurement team.



We are seeking a highly motivated, detail orientated, Degree educated Mechanical Engineer to join the procurement team or a world leading manufacturer in their field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a keen interest in end-to-end procurement processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise while contributing to the strategic sourcing and supply chain management of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):




  • Supplier Management - Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials and components.

  • Cost Analysis - Conduct cost analysis and negotiate contracts to achieve the best value for the company.

  • Technical Evaluation - Assess technical specifications and ensure that purchased materials and components meet the required standards and specifications.

  • Collaboration - Work closely with the engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to understand and fulfil procurement needs.

  • Process Improvement - Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Compliance - Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.



Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Candidate Attributes Required:




  • Bachelor’s and / or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering Discipline is essential.

  • Proven experience working within any of the following positions - Design Engineer, R&D, Manufacturing / Process Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Procurement Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Buyer etc gained from within a Lean Manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.



Advantageous Experience and Experience (but not essential):






  • Previous experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.

  • CIPS qualification.

  • Six Sigma Qualification.
