Support Site Engineer 



Frontline Recruitment Weymouth is looking for a Support Site Engineer to join our client’s team in Portland. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in maintaining and supporting essential site operations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.



About the Role



As a Support Site Engineer, you will assist the Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in ensuring that all site machinery operates efficiently. Your work will be crucial in supporting the handling, storage, and export of grain and other commodities, helping to maintain smooth and uninterrupted operations.



Key Responsibilities



In this role as a Support Site Engineer, you will be responsible for:




  • Assisting the Mechanical & Electrical Engineer in servicing and maintaining all site machinery.

  • Conducting preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Diagnosing and repairing minor faults to keep equipment in optimal condition.

  • Operating and managing the automated gantry system during discharges.

  • Adhering to all health & safety procedures and ensuring compliance with site maintenance protocols.

  • Maintaining up-to-date plant inspection schedules and supporting documentation.

  • Keeping the site and storage areas clean, organised, and safe for ongoing operations.



Requirements



To be successful as a Support Site Engineer, you will need:




  • A relevant qualification such as BTech, City & Guilds, or NVQ, or equivalent experience in a mechanical or electrical role.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar industry, such as production, warehousing, ports, or shipping.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while prioritising tasks effectively.

  • A proactive, hands-on attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • The flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and nights, particularly during vessel discharges.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Experience operating machinery would be highly beneficial.
