Whether you have experience in care, education, or simply have a keen interest in supporting individuals with autism, we invite you to join our school near Guildford, as a Support Worker and embark on a rewarding career.

Position: Support Worker
Location: Adult Day Centre
Salary: £25,000 per annum FTE, plus a £500 joining bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Part-time options available: 3 or 4 full days per week)

About the Role

Join this compassionate and dedicated team at their adult day centre, where you'll support autistic learners aged 18 and over. As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Work both one-on-one and in small groups to help learners develop essential skills for greater independence, well-being, and social engagement.
  • Implement behaviour-based teaching strategies and interventions to foster positive outcomes.
  • Assist learners in applying their skills in practical, real-life situations, both within our Centre for Lifelong Learning and out in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care, support, and educational assistance to autistic adult learners.
  • Design and deliver lessons and activities that promote skill development and personal growth.
  • Offer behaviourally-informed support to reduce behaviours that impact the quality of life.
  • Assist with personal care, including toileting, dressing, and hygiene, while encouraging learners to maintain these routines independently.
  • Facilitate learners' involvement in social, leisure, and educational activities in the local community.
  • Help learners access work experience and employment opportunities.
  • Monitor and record learners' progress to ensure tailored, effective support.

Why Join This School?

  • Attractive Compensation: Competitive salary plus a £500 joining bonus.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a flexible schedule with no evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts. Part-time options are available.
  • Generous Leave: Benefit from 23 days of paid holiday (3 days more than the standard) plus bank holidays.
  • Career Growth: Access opportunities for career advancement and regular salary increases.
  • Comprehensive Training: Receive extensive training in first aid, safeguarding, emergency medication, and more.
  • Professional Development: Gain funded and recognised qualifications, including the Care Certificate and RQF Level 3 in adult social care.
  • Supportive Work Environment: Thrive in a supportive setting with a collaborative team, while also enjoying the autonomy to work independently with learners.

What They're Looking For

  • A driving license or reliable transportation (due to the remote location).
  • Experience-whether professional, personal, or voluntary-working with adults or young people with disabilities.
  • Comfort in working with adults who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care when needed.
  • A calm and composed approach in high-pressure situations.
  • We also welcome applicants with no direct experience but with a genuine interest in learning disabilities and a strong desire to help others.
