Support Workers Wanted at a Thriving Educational Centre Near Guildford

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people and adults with disabilities?

Whether you have experience in care, teaching, or simply a desire to work with individuals on the autism spectrum, we invite you to start a rewarding career as a Support Worker.

Position: Support Worker
Location: Adult Day Centre
Salary: £25,000 per annum FTE, plus a £500 welcome bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Part-time options: 3 or 4 full days per week)
Annual Leave: 23 days paid holiday, plus bank holidays

About the Role:

Become part of a compassionate team at this adult day centre, where you'll support autistic learners aged 18 and up. As a Support Worker, your role will involve:

  • Working one-on-one and in small groups to foster skills and knowledge that enhance learners' well-being, independence, and social participation.
  • Implementing behaviour-based teaching strategies and interventions to encourage positive outcomes and growth.
  • Helping learners apply their skills in practical settings, both within the Centre for Lifelong Learning and in the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated care, support, and education to autistic adult learners.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and activities that build essential knowledge and skills.
  • Offer behaviourally-based assistance to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life.
  • Support learners in maintaining personal hygiene and dignity, including assistance with toileting, dressing, and washing.
  • Facilitate participation in social, leisure, and educational activities within the local area.
  • Help learners access work experience and employment opportunities.
  • Track and monitor learners' progress to ensure they receive personalised support.

Why Join This Centre?

  • Attractive Compensation: Competitive salary plus a £500 joining bonus.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy sociable hours with no evening, weekend, or overnight shifts. Part-time options are available.
  • Generous Leave: Benefit from 23 days of paid holiday, in addition to bank holidays.
  • Growth Opportunities: Rapid career progression and regular salary reviews.
  • Comprehensive Training: Receive thorough training in first aid, safeguarding, emergency medication, and more.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities to earn funded and accredited qualifications, such as the Care Certificate and RQF Level 3 in adult social care.
  • Supportive Atmosphere: Work within a nurturing environment, alongside committed colleagues and supportive management, with opportunities for independent work with learners.

What They're Looking For:

  • A driving license or reliable transportation (due to the centre's location).
  • Experience (professional, personal, or voluntary) working with adults or young people with disabilities.
  • Confidence in supporting adults who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Willingness to assist with personal/intimate care as needed.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

We also encourage those with a strong interest in learning disabilities and a genuine desire to help others to apply, even if you have no prior experience in the field.
