Are you passionate about helping young people and looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in their lives? Supported internships are an amazing opportunity for young people with autism or a learning disability to gain valuable work experience and transition into paid employment. This charity is an expert in delivering these programmes, partnering with well-known employers to provide life-changing opportunities.
If you have a background in employability, further education, or apprenticeships, this could be a highly rewarding career move for you. This structured study programme supports young people aged 1624 with an EHCP. Over the course of a year, they will undertake four 10-week work experience placements (typically four days a week) alongside classroom-based vocational learning, gaining accredited qualifications. The young people also benefit from access to a job coach, who provides practical support such as travel training (from home to work) and assistance in understanding day-to-day tasks in the workplace. The job coach works closely with employers to ensure successful placements, with a high proportion leading to full-time paid employment.
This charity delivers supported internships across Salford, Stockport, Manchester Central, and Trafford, working with employers such as local councils, railways, and private sector companies. Typical responsibilities in this role include:
Reviewing contractual dashboard numbers across teams and leading steering meetings
Embedding a robust quality assurance process across the programme, including spot checks and paperwork reviews
Collaborating with the Access to Work Manager to maximise support and funding for young people
Leading a team of Senior Employment Coaches, Employment Coaches, and Job Coaches
To apply, you must have held a senior role within the employability or skills sector. You may have previously worked as a Head of Employability, Employment Support Manager, Head of Apprenticeships, Quality Assurance Manager, or Apprenticeship Delivery Manager.
