PAY RATE: �22.33 PAYE / �29.05

DURATION/Hours: 3-month initial contract/ 35 hours a week

About the Role:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the community? Join our dynamic team as an Allocations Officer and play a crucial role in implementing the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme. You will be responsible for letting Council and Registered Provider (RP) housing to shortlisted applicants, participating in the letting of temporary accommodation, and providing high-quality advice and information to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Housing Allocation: Advertise and let Council and RP homes to applicants on the housing register.
  • Customer Support: Provide advice and information to customers regarding housing options and rehousing prospects.
  • Liaison: Maintain regular communication with RP partners and ensure the Council receives its full nomination quotas.
  • Project Participation: Lead and participate in projects to improve customer service and meet departmental targets.
  • Policy Review: Contribute to policy and procedure reviews within the Allocations Team and Department.
  • Temporary Accommodation: Assist in letting various forms of temporary accommodation to homeless households.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records and provide statistics to support departmental working and target setting.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Monitoring lettings against set targets for particular groups.
  • Ensuring timely lettings of void properties.
  • Maximising the number of RP lettings and adherence to nomination agreements.
  • Reducing households in temporary accommodation.
  • Completing projects within set time frames and budgets.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Council's Housing duties under relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of Choice Based Lettings and homelessness duties.
  • Experience using Locata (desirable)
  • Ability to assess and engage with residents to meet their accommodation needs.
  • Proficiency in IT systems for record maintenance.
  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in working on projects to improve housing services.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in a Housing Allocation setting, either in a Council, Registered Provider, or Private Sector work setting.
