Are you passionate about supporting young boys with complex needs and helping them thrive?
Do you find satisfaction in working in a challenging but rewarding environment where you can make a real difference?
Randstad Education is partnering with a specialist school in Haywards Heath, catering for boys aged 6-12 with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), including those with Asperger's Syndrome and those with a diagnosis of ADHD. We are seeking experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team on both long-term and supply bases.
Be prepared for a rewarding but demanding role:
  • Expect to work with students who exhibit a wide range of challenging behaviours. This might include aggression, anxiety, defiance, and difficulty with social interaction.
  • You'll need a strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour. This includes de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and a calm and consistent approach.
  • Be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with a high workload. You'll be supporting students individually and in small groups, often with a focus on emotional regulation, social skills development, and academic support.
We are looking for individuals with:
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school setting. You'll need to be able to demonstrate your ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and build positive relationships with students.
  • A strong understanding of child development and learning needs, particularly those with SEMH difficulties. You'll need to be able to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You'll need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Resilience and a positive attitude. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting students, even when faced with challenging situations.
We offer:
  • A supportive and collaborative environment with a dedicated team of professionals. You'll be part of a team that is committed to providing the best possible support for our students.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training. We are committed to supporting our staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
If you are ready to take on a challenging but rewarding role, please submit your CV and a covering letter to Claire Watson on 01293 527416 or ##### outlining your experience and why you are interested in this role.
We look forward to hearing from you!
