Teaching Assistant (Mainstream Primary School - SEMH Needs)
Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rochdale, OL16
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience
Aspire People Agency is delighted to announce an opportunity to join a dedicated team at a highly respected Primary school, to support a pupil within year 3 who has Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to support this student in their educational journey.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with SEMH needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
Support teachers in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of each student.
Help to create a safe and positive learning environment.
Assist with personal care and mobility needs, where necessary.
Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional development.
Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and other professionals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience working with SEN children in a mainstream school setting or SEN provision
A strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support these students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are advantageous but not essential.
