Exciting Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Term-Time Only)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a beautiful location in Dorset.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Cranborne, Dorset
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 (Term-Time Only)
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week, Term-Time Only

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students aged 11-16 with special educational needs, including Autism and related conditions. Working alongside our skilled teaching team, you will provide both academic and vocational assistance, helping students excel in their learning and personal development. Your role will be varied, from classroom support to outdoor activities like Bushcraft and life skills sessions, making a meaningful impact on each student's progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to students alongside the teaching staff
  • Safeguard and promote the well-being of young people at all times
  • Help students achieve their targets outlined in their Education and Healthcare Plans (EHCP)
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies tailored to individual student needs
  • Record incidents, accidents, and health and safety details accurately
  • Encourage group participation and promote positive social interactions

What We're Looking For:
We welcome applicants with or without experience, but ideal candidates will have:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Skills in managing a variety of behaviours, including those that challenge
  • A positive, creative approach to problem-solving
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent (desirable)
