Teaching Assistant - Immediate Start

Location: West Sussex
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible

We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team at a specialist school in West Sussex. This school provides exceptional education for students aged 11-19 diagnosed with autism spectrum conditions.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting students' academic growth. Working alongside teachers and other staff, you will help to create a learning environment that enables students to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students, ensuring their understanding and engagement.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering differentiated lesson plans and learning resources.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group interventions to reinforce key mathematical concepts.
  • Tailoring support for students with autism spectrum conditions, helping them overcome learning challenges.
  • Monitoring student progress and reporting on development to help shape ongoing support strategies.
  • Fostering a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel supported in their educational journey.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Maths and English (up to GCSE level).
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, especially those on the autism spectrum (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine passion for helping students succeed, with patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a vibrant school environment.
