Teaching Assistant Job Description: As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the classroom teacher and helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. You will assist with lesson delivery, provide one-on-one or small group support, and help students with additional needs to engage with the curriculum.
Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons.
Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning and help them achieve their targets.
Provide support for students with special educational needs (SEN) or other individual needs.
Help with the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
Assist with the monitoring and tracking of student progress.
Create a positive and safe learning environment for students.
Help with classroom management and ensure students are engaged and focused.
Support students during lunch breaks, playtimes, and other activities as required.
Person Specification: The Teaching Assistant ideal candidate will:
Have a passion for working with children and helping them succeed.
Be patient, adaptable, and proactive in supporting students.
Have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Hold a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) or have experience working in a school setting.
Have a DBS on the update service or willing to do one.
Experience in supporting students with SEN would be an advantage, but not essential.
Be enthusiastic and motivated to contribute to the school community.
