We are looking for positive and dedicated individuals to support pupils in a specialist secondary school in the Horley area, close to Copthorne. You will be working in the role of Teaching Assistant, and supporting students aged between 11-18 with Social and Emotional Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). With this fantastic opportunity you will be joining an experienced team who provide an exciting, nurturing and friendly environment while striving to achieve the very best for their students. Each TA will work directly with the classroom teacher, with class sizes of 4-5 pupils, and help deliver outstanding curriculum provision. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting students during class by tracking their progress
  • Liaising with class teacher to ensure lessons run smoothly
  • Enabling learners to access the curriculum
  • Supporting the pastoral needs of the learners
  • Being an active part in creating a positive learning environment
  • Supporting students as part of a small group in a range of activities throughout the day
  • Using your interests to engage learners in learning

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Experience working with people who have been through Trauma
  • Have an understanding of students with emotional needs
  • Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
  • The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
  • Be flexible in your approach to education.
  • Own means of transport is essential
