Simply Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor for a full-time permanent role within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. This is an exciting opportunity to support students with SEMH needs in a tailored environment, ensuring they can overcome emotional and behavioural challenges while building their confidence and achieving success in their education.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor within our SEN provision, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with SEMH needs on a daily basis. You will work closely with SEN teachers and the leadership team to provide consistent, structured support, helping students to manage emotional and behavioural challenges, and engage meaningfully with their learning. Your role will be crucial in providing a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Develop strong, trusting relationships with students with SEMH needs, offering them the emotional support they require to succeed.
✔ Provide one-to-one and small group support, specifically focused on emotional regulation, social skills development, and behaviour management.
✔ Collaborate in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans that address both academic and emotional goals.
✔ Support students in managing emotional challenges, helping them to engage positively with lessons and reduce instances of disruptive behaviour.
✔ Foster student participation, encouraging students to feel included and motivated to engage with classroom activities.
✔ Help students develop life skills such as resilience, self-regulation, and problem-solving, in both structured and unstructured settings.
✔ Support students during breaks, lunches, and transitions to help them manage their emotions in social settings.
✔ Ensure a positive and nurturing environment, upholding the school's safeguarding and behaviour management policies at all times.
