Line Manager - Nuclear Material Control Operations
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £36,000 - £40,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for a Line Manager - Nuclear Material Control Operations for the Nuclear Materials Control team working within our Operations function.
As a Line Manager of the Nuclear Material Control Team, you will:
- Lead and line manage a team of direct reports,
- Be responsible for the development of staff, ensuring staff are trained and competent to carry out assigned tasks safely
- Support the ongoing development of a diverse and inclusive working environment that allows individuals to flourish and realise their potential.
- Support the delivery of people capability including:
- Business forecasting and headcount against current and future demand.
- Responsibility for ensuring skilled resources are available when required to support programme demands. Interviewing as required
- Manage Key Performance Indicator metrics on schedule, quality, safety, delivery and cost.
- Actively engage and support the business performance process, including completing staff performance management reports
- Lead in providing a diverse and inclusive working environment that allows individuals to flourish and realise their potential.
- Work with the task manager & NMOG Resource Manager to create resolutions at all levels and deal with escalated resourcing issues.
- Act as a role model to others by ensuring your own behaviours model the highest standard in Health and Safety and security.
- Give advice and guidance on career development including coaching, Mentoring provision of feedback and providing appropriate support.
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- Degree or equivalent in management and development of personnel
- An Institute of leadership and management (ILM) Certificate in Leadership and Management
- Professional membership of Chartered Institute of professional Development (CIPD associate) or Chartered Management Institute (CMI Associate)
- Evidence of Line Management and Leadership experience.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and task workload, deliver in an organised manner and present results to senior managers.
- Good organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence.
- Capable of resolving problems including those arising through interaction with other sections/departments and external customers.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including MS Word and Excel.
Most importantly you will be working with a remarkable team supporting the delivery of extraordinary things, It will be an advantage If you have some of the following skills and experience:
- Experience of working within a highly regulated hazardous industry.
- Knowledge and movement of hazardous materials, Inventory Control, handling and storage

Important things you need to know:
- You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.

Due to the nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston. Typically, 4 days onsite per week.
