I am recruiting a CARING and PASSIONATE Team Leader to join a service for Young Adults with Learning Disabilities and complex needs. The service, which is located near Royston, Cambridgeshire, and is CQC rate OUTSTANDING supports adults aged 18+
The service is looking for candidates with a caring nature and the ability to have fun and engage with the people they support. Set within 14 acres the service offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. With specialist facilities and a focus on promoting independence, supporting each of our young services through the transition from education into adulthood with a focus on person-centred programmes to promote independence

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide support to the Care Managers through the management, motivation and coaching of a team of support workers and Senior Support workers to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.
  • Be responsible for a team that provides appropriate physical and emotional support to the young people through the work of the care team within a residential environment and with off-site activities. This will include:
  • Help with the induction of new team members and their continued mentoring and development towards QCF and other mandatory training.
  • Carry out supervision along with dealing with Performance Management issues within your team.
  • Take an active role in ensuring that activities are completed, and effectively delegated and that day-to-day implementation of young people's individual program plans are carried out efficiently with adequate cover available at all times.
  • Ensure that all documentation is kept up to date.
  • Undertake on a regular basis sleeping-in duties for which an allowance is paid and waking night duties and undertake duty manager/on call responsibilities
  • Please note that the role may require participation in physical intervention and personal care.
  • You will have the freedom to plan their day in line with their choices and wishes, enabling them to be as independent as possible, seeing them thrive and enjoy making memories
  • You will be providing personal care to residents as well as supporting them in a wide range of learning, development and social activities including arts and crafts, cookery, music, gardening, swimming, shopping trips and fun social occasions.
  • We are looking for proactive individuals who can demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a person-centred approach to supporting our young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the service users.
  • Following care plans for each individual.
  • Taking service users out into the community.
  • Participating in activities such as arts, crafts, gardening and day trips.

Requirements:

  • QCF Level 3 in Adult Social Care
  • Shift and/or team-leading experience
  • Superb communication skills
  • Highly organised
  • Ability to lead and motivate
  • Motivated to learn and to go the extra mile
  • Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible
  • Exceptional communication skills, empathy, and understanding
  • Good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • An active approach to the role
