Role Overview:
Accountable for managing on-budget delivery of maintenance overhauls and repairs.
Accountable for managing effective supplier interfaces; driving efficient supply chain stock rotation and adherence to contract deliverables.
Accountable for maintaining missing and damaged (M&D) cost accuracy through upholding supplier obligations. Responsible for driving commercial challenges relating to out of course charges vs budget.
Responsible for identifying opportunities for cost savings and avoidance.
Responsible for documenting all developed processes for managing M&D with responsible partners. Drive continuous improvement throughout all interfaces and operations.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop solid working relationships with all suppliers. Represent the interests of the Material, Performance, Project, and Commercial Management to the supplier. Perform regular site visits across localised (UK) supplier sites to drive effective engagement.
Manage day to day operations in line with agreed KPIs. Ensure shortrange budget objectives are met or exceeded and identify criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success. Ensure effective cost monitoring and compliance through close supplier management. Report actual vs budget vs forecast values to operation, commercial and project teams.
Report project cost deliverables to respective project manager. Obtain direction in interest of the project success from the respective project manager. Provide input at the project evaluation stage, to drive advancement of the project-specific process for suppliers, ensuring high transparency over the whole supply process in the project. Utilise tacital nowledge to input on the enhancement of specific tasks for the next overhaul period.
Actively participate in our 3is improvement programme and drive implementation of improvements from the team. Continuously develop cross functional and departmental processes. Embed CI practices throughout productive teams. Utilises technical knowledge from the railway business into the missing and damaged materials process to be able to effectively discuss claims with the supplier.
Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility. Understand, implement, and comply with the Siemens Rolling Stock HSEW policies. Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team (or virtual team) and ensure employees raise issues and participate in implementation of agreed changes. Fully participate and engage in RL behavioural safety agenda to ensure you and your team work safely. Take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions that may have an environmental impact. Accept personal responsibility to take care of ourselves and any others affected by one's own acts or omissions
Monitor compliance to meet internal control procedures and take appropriate corrective action. Ensure awareness and understanding of Siemens compliance policies and 'Tell Us' ethos. Implement in areas of responsibility.
Essential: Good understanding of health and safety legislation. Knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance processes. Ability to understand, manage and enforce supplier contract deliverables.
Experience of managing supplier/customer relationships against contractual delivery.
Engineering background, appreciation of maintenance practices through qualification or experience. Good knowledge of IT systems/software, able to read, interpret and manage spreadsheets and project tools.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Strong organisation/planning skills.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, comfortable with the review and development of management information. Engineering technical awareness. Commercial experience.
Preferred: Engineering/Financial degree or equivalent qualification or experience. Advanced understanding of supplier contract management. Advanced understanding of project management principles
